A Passion for the Planet

A Passion for the Planet, composed by Geoffrey Hudson, is an hour-long eco-oratorio with lyrics drawn from scientific prose, poetry and sacred texts from many faiths.
Hudson, an American composer, often writes for stringed instruments and has had his work performed across the U.S. and Europe. The piece is scored for a chorus of mixed voices, a children’s chorus, soprano and baritone soloists, and a 12-member instrumental ensemble. It premiered in Northampton, Massachusetts, USA, in June 2012.
New Britain-based CONCORA will perform Hudson’s Passion as part of a four-state tour to raise awareness of environmental concerns and showcase solutions across New England. The Waterbury performance is the first program of the fall season of Concerts on the Green, sponsored by St. John’s Episcopal Church in Waterbury.
The partners will host an Information and Get-involved Fair immediately following the concert, to be held in the church Auditorium.
Proceeds from this event will support the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and its mission to protect the health of the watershed through science, education, advocacy, and community engagement.

Join us for a Halloween-inspired concert with plenty of musical tricks and treats performed by members and friends of St. John’s Church: Bob Havery (organ), Steve Minkler (piano), Bob & Steve (organ duet), Ariana Alldredge and Larissa Davidowitz (soprano vocalists), Henry Church (guitar), Joel Pinchon (violin), and Christopher Sweeney (The Narrator).
Quarantined Quartet

Quarantined Quartet is a family guitar ensemble from Brooklyn, NY, made up of Elysa, Jason, and their sons Joseph and Noah Hochman. They began the group on March 21, 2020 at the start of the pandemic lockdown, sharing their first practice video on Instagram that same day. Since then, they have practiced and posted a video every single day for over 2,000 consecutive days, building a global audience of more than 1 million followers.
They are the founders of the New York Guitar Academy and Jay & Lee Rumba Flamenca, with backgrounds in Spanish classical, flamenco, and rock guitar. Since 2021, they have been a resident band at the iconic Tavern on the Green in Central Park, NYC. Their repertoire includes original compositions and reimagined covers, presented as engaging live experiences for concert halls, festivals, and special events.
