Dear Beloved Community of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Since November 2023, we have walked together in faith, beginning when I first joined you as a supply priest. Before that first Sunday, I knew very little about St. John’s, but I was immediately met with warmth and a palpable sense of the Holy Spirit’s presence. Over the months that followed, we have worshiped and prayed together, called a faithful and gifted Associate Priest, fed our community, cared for one another in times of need, lifted our voices for justice, celebrated life’s milestones, and discerned our identity as a community rooted in diverse culture, prayer, and belovedness. It has been a joy and an honor to walk this stretch of the road with you. It is with a full and tender heart that I share the news that I will be stepping down as your Priest-in-Charge, effective August 10, 2025. After much prayer, discernment and broader shifts in my life, I have realized that God is calling me to take on a new ministry. This was not an easy decision. Serving alongside you has been one of the great privileges of my ministry. I will soon step into a new role as Director for Congregational Development and Networking in the Episcopal Church in Connecticut. This newly created position invites me to support ministry networks and regional leadership teams across our diocese, helping to strengthen existing relationships and imagine new pathways forward in collaboration and faith. I know this news may stir a range of emotions and raise important questions for the future of St. John’s. Please know this: you are well equipped for the journey ahead. The Rev. Roxana Videla, your faithful vestry, and the Rev. Cn. Dr. Kevin Olds, Canon for Congregations and Transitions, will accompany you with wisdom, care, and courage through this season of transition. The seeds of renewal, connection, and hope are already being nurtured in this community, and will continue to grow as you abide in love and remain open to the movement of the Holy Spirit. I ask for your prayers and your blessing as I step into this next chapter, just as I will continue to hold each of you in prayer with deep gratitude and love. Querida y Amada Comunidad de la Iglesia Episcopal de San Juan: Desde noviembre de 2023, hemos caminado juntos en la fe, desde que me uní a ustedes como sacerdote suplente. Antes de ese primer domingo, sabía muy poco sobre San Juan, pero inmediatamente me recibió una cálida bienvenida y una palpable presencia del Espíritu Santo. Durante los meses siguientes, hemos celebrado juntos nuestros cultos, llamado a un Sacerdote Asociado fiel y talentoso, alimentado a nuestra comunidad, cuidado mutuo en momentos de necesidad, alzado nuestras voces por la justicia y discernido nuestra identidad como una comunidad arraigada en la cultura, la oración y el amor. Ha sido una alegría y un honor recorrer este camino con ustedes. Con gran ternura les comparto la noticia de que dejaré mi cargo como su Sacerdote a Cargo, a partir del XX de agosto de 2025. Después de mucha oración, discernimiento y cambios más profundos en mi vida, me he dado cuenta de que Dios me llama a asumir un nuevo ministerio. No fue una decisión fácil. Servir junto a ustedes ha sido uno de los grandes privilegios de mi ministerio. Pronto asumiré un nuevo cargo como Director de Desarrollo y Redes Congregacionales en la Iglesia Episcopal de Connecticut. Este nuevo puesto me invita a apoyar las redes ministeriales y los equipos de liderazgo regional de nuestra diócesis, ayudando a fortalecer las relaciones existentes e imaginando nuevos caminos para el futuro en colaboración y fe. Sé que esta noticia puede despertar diversas emociones y plantear preguntas importantes para el futuro de San Juan. Sepan esto: están bien preparados para el camino que les espera. La Reverenda Roxana Videla, su fiel junta parroquial y el Reverendo Canónigo Dr. Kevin Olds, Canónigo para Congregaciones y Transiciones, los acompañarán con sabiduría, cariño y valentía en esta etapa de transición. Las semillas de renovación, conexión y esperanza ya se están cultivando en esta comunidad y seguirán creciendo a medida que permanezcan en el amor y abiertos a la acción del Espíritu Santo. Les pido sus oraciones y su bendición al comenzar este nuevo capítulo, así como seguiré orando por cada uno de ustedes con profunda gratitud y amor.
