Henry Friez (1918-2016)
Henry J. Friez, 97, of Watertown, passed away peacefully at home early Saturday morning, January 9, 2016. He was the husband of the late Mary (Hobbie) Friez who preceded him in death in 2009. Read more • Leer más → “Henry Friez (1918-2016)”

Spotlight on Service
Doris Hollenstein, Donna Gervickas, and Sharon Samela will be honored by the Naugatuck Valley Project for their service to the needy in Waterbury. The Prophet Micah calls us to love according to God's standards: "What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8
The Micah Award honors local heroes who live out Micah's words. Doris, Donna, and Sharon have worked with devotion and energy to serve the poor of Waterbury for many years. Although each of them has insisted that she does not "deserve" recognition for doing good work, their humility can not erase the amount of work they have accomplished.
This years awards will be given out during a special dinner at 5 pm on Saturday 15 November, at Grand Oak Villa in Oakville. Cost is $45 per person and $400 for a table of 10. Please consider joining Doris, Donna and Sharon as they are honored.

Worship in Solidarity with Mt. Olive AME Zion Church • Adoración en solidaridad con la iglesia Mt. Olive Zion Church
On Wednesday, June 17, 2015, nine people were murdered by a gunman at a Bible study at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC. The killings were racially motivated.
Perhaps you know that the African Methodist Episcopal Churches are our spiritual cousins, founded by Richard Allen in Philadelphia the nineteenth century. We will have services as usual this Sunday, June 21, and will pray for the victims and the parish.
I wonder if a group of some of our parish members would be willing to go to Mt. Olive AME Zion Church this weekend to worship with them as a sign of prayerful solidarity against hate? Steve Nagy has offered to attend their worship service, which begins at 11:00am. Anyone interested in joining him?
The Pastor, Rev. Derrill Blue, is a friend of mine. He would be delighted to welcome you. Mt. Olive AME Zion is located at 82 Pearl Street. Their service begins at 11:00am.
