Jazz Sunday has become a tradition at St. John’s since launching in October of 2015. Rosemary Minkler, a member of St. John’s since birth, leads an ensemble of musicians at the 9:30 service once a month. Joining Rosemary are friends and graduates from the music programs at Western Connecticut State University and the University of Hartford.
The St. John’s Jazz Ensemble, as of January 2019, consists of: Keenan Asbridge (trumpet), Larry Davis (drums), Samantha Feliciano (vocalist), Tim Lewis (saxophone), Rosemary Minkler (piano), Steven Minkler (alternate piano), and Niles Spaulding (bass). Other musicians who have contributed their talents since 2015 include Henry Church (guitar), Andre Foote (trumpet), Brian Ladden (djembe), Michael Louchen (bass), Keith McDade (bass), Gianni Moreno (bass), Jeff Moro (bass), Steve Niemitz (drums), and Matt Spencer (drums).
