Heroic Music for Brass & Organ
St. Michael’s Litchfield – Jan. 28
St. John’s Waterbury – Feb. 4

Celebrate the New Year with Heroic Music for Brass & Organ, presented as part of Waterbury Symphony Orchestra’s Music in Great Spaces series. The tantalizing combination of brass and organ presented in a cathedral acoustic is one that cannot be replicated. Be prepared to relish in sonorous mastery, led by Music Director and Conductor Leif Bjaland at two spectacular locations, each unique in their own way.
Stephen Scarlato, guest organist, received his bachelor’s degree in organ performance from The Hartt School, where he studied under Larry Allen. He currently serves as organist at Immanuel Congregational Church, and as a staff accompanist in The Hartt School’s Vocal Studies Division.
Travel to Litchfield to the exquisite interior of St. Michaels Parish on January 28, at 4pm, or take time to experience a Waterbury landmark in the timeless architectural beauty of St. John’s Episcopal Church on February 4, at 3pm. The joyous fanfare of organ and brass will create a thrilling, resonant sound to celebrate the timeless beauty of both of these historically significant structures in the region. A true sonic adventure, appropriate for the 80th celebratory season of the WSO. Enjoy the wonderful heritage of literature composed for organ and brass by composers such as Gabrieli, Telemann, and Britten. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to be swept away by the combination of organ pipes and the perfect blend and fantastic dynamic range of brass, conducted by Leif Bjaland.
Single tickets are $25 in advance/$35 at the door for each event. For more information, or to purchase, visit, or call 203-574-4283.
